Is it still a good choice in 2026? 🤔

@itsfoss

I do not think that kids these days care about laptops anymore, it is all about mobile devices. Though I may be wrong ...

@itsfoss, ThinkPad got me thinking why on Earth the default position for trackpad buttons is on the bottom. No matter whether you are typing or using a trackpad, it's still more convenient to use the upper ones

@strider @itsfoss

I hate touchpads, I always disable them. And only enable them if my battery in my mouse dies and I have no replacement batteries handy 😉

@itsfoss Does that still involve the Microslop tax? Is that still x86-based?
@itsfoss the new t14 and p16 both come with upgradable ram iirc
@itsfoss From my experience with refurbished HP Elitebooks vor Dell Latitudes, I'd say they are similar in build quality and Linux compatibility. My daily driver is a Thinkpad E590 and its hinge and USB-C port have issues. I use HP and Dell machines for testing, not daily, but they seem well enough.
@itsfoss typically #sexist meme -- repulsive 🤮

#linuxwomen
@itsfoss if its libreboot compatible its worth
@itsfoss what's the best laptop for Linux? Can I do it on an HP?
@LiftedLorax No one brand, but the mainstream ones and Linux-focused ones work really well.
@itsfoss so Think Pad is the most Linux friendly then? I was about to install Ubuntu on my elite book, as I also have an old Think Pad... I might do that one first then...
@itsfoss
For me, ThinksPads are still the best Laptops (for Linux) out there. 😌
