Going to invent a guitar that has magnets below the strings and when the strings vibrate within the magnetic field it will make an ELECTRIC SIGNAL thus I will call this Magnet Guitar a MAGNETAR

*wait. I’m being told…*

I’m happy to say magnetars are already available.

@NanoRaptor something something new low E dive bomb goals
@NanoRaptor True. But the closest ones are currently a few thousand light-years away, so it’s a pretty long trip to get one. You’ll need to pack a couple extra meals and maybe an extra cubic megameter of fuel. Also, finding a place to keep it in your home will be tough-a standard size guitar stand will be just a bit too small.
@dpnash @NanoRaptor oh man there’s gonna be trouble when some kid asks Santa for a magnetar for Christmas
@NanoRaptor
I learned what a magnetar is from this post! Awesome! Also, fuck you, now I know about magnetars.

@NanoRaptor I mean there’s also this idea for a magnetar which on one hand looks insanely cool but on the other hand, presumably you too are a hand-having person in which case don't built this:

@yiningkarlli @NanoRaptor ah, fuzzlenuggets, we had the same idea 😂

@ozone89 @yiningkarlli @NanoRaptor I remember being very nervous watching this video. 😬

I'm not an engineer, but I estimated that there was at least a 1/10 chance that something catastrophic could have happened.

@NanoRaptor named after the inventor, pat magnetar,

@NanoRaptor also, somebody somehow managed to get the magnets float in the middle of the magnatar by using other magnets!

@NanoRaptor Just you wouldn't like to be near enough to hear them playing.
@NanoRaptor Somehow 'magnetar' sounds like a pokémon name to me...
@NanoRaptor @wynke magnemite, magnetar, magneton makes more sense than magnemite, magneton, magnezone
@NanoRaptor If you strum it impulsively, hard, and loud on the radio, you could even create a fast radio burst 🤔
@NanoRaptor I pickup what you put down.

@NanoRaptor happy wet riffs!

(sorry, this wasn't meant to me rule 34-compliant...)

@NanoRaptor my parents tell me I invented double glazing in 1981.
@acf @NanoRaptor Double Glazed Doughnuts ??
@swggrkllr3rd @NanoRaptor
if you’re kidding, “oh I wish”.
If you’re not kidding “no, windows” :)
@acf @NanoRaptor Okay, but only ONE a day.

@NanoRaptor

I'm not a music historian, but I believe the magnetar is a refinement of the electric violin invented by a young Albert Einsten while he was working as a humble patent clerk in Sydney.

@NanoRaptor Take the rest of the day off.

@NanoRaptor here is the real magnetar. Enjoy!

@NanoRaptor word of advice. Keep your credit and debit cards well away from a Magnetar...
@NanoRaptor Magnetars are out there in the sky but not sure they are 'readily available' :) (I would very much hope not!)
@NanoRaptor Just don't feed that electrical signal back into the system.
You might inadvertently create a perpetual motion machine and have the thermodynamic police knocking at your door.
@NanoRaptor now I wish they were called magnetars
@NanoRaptor heavy, cosmic thoughts. Make my head spin.
Magnetars drag spacetime to power superluminous supernovae

Frame-dragging may explain an odd pattern seen in the brightest supernovae.
