JPegsFolder break.

Back to Algonquin Park, but in the fall.

This is from a lookout at the visitor's centre. Beautiful in all seasons. People have seen wolves, bear, and other wildlife wandering along the creek. I'm not bitter at all about having never seen any critters in the many times I've visited. :)

It's 3+ hours north of Toronto, so still some snow.

Highway 60 travels through the south part of the park. It's pretty spectacular. It used to be that when cars pulled over it was because of moose on the side of the roads, but in recent years, folk pull over to take selfies in front particularly colourful trees.

We used to travel up here every Thanksgiving. This is why we don't anymore. Plan before or after for the fall foliage spectacle, but if you hate traffic and crowds, for the love of all that's good, avoid Thanksgiving weekend. :)

The parking lot off to the the left, which is obviously full, is for a fairly easy, albeit uphill, trail with a spectacular payoff: a cliff overlooking a sea of trees and lakes.

This is a view from that lookoff mentioned in a previous post. It's before the colours have peaked, so still a lot of green, but the colours have begun and you can see how microclimates have affected colour. Areas of still-to-change, other areas in which colours are fully in progress.

Images lie. On this day, this rocky area was packed. They are just all behind me, like Satan, except this one fellow. :)
