iPhone OS – a mobile operating system built on the Linux kernel. iPhone combines three amazing products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. https://archiveos.org/iphone-os/ #linux #apple #osx #ios #iphone

@ArchiveOS Not sure where the „built on Linux kernel” came from, but that's common misconception for Apple OS'es for some reason.

Neither macOS, iOS or any current OS made by Apple is based on Linux. Apple is using their own kernel: Mach/XNU dated way back to NeXT operating system back in the 80s - it’s even older than Linux. And based on a Mach microkernel + implementation of BSD UNIX subsystem.

@ArchiveOS I'm sorry but how do you get your wires crossed so badly as to say iOS is based on Linux? iOS is Darwin which uses the XNU kernel
