Thinking of getting a new raspberry pi. Should I get a model 4 or 5? The 4 would still work with my existing USB power adapter and it has an audio jack that I might wanna use. Any downsides I’m overlooking? I’d like to host some web-services. Maybe even mastodon. But sure there’ll be more tasks I’ll throw on it as time goes by. Home assistant, kodi, jukebox …

@zeank the more powerful Pis tend to be overprized and if you're planning to deploy a bunch of services permanently then you might be better off looking for a 'proper' small form factor mainboard or old laptop etc. Having said that the Pi 4 is powerful enough for quite a lot of stuff, especially if you add proper nvm storage to the notoriously slow and unreliable SD slot. A good power supply is key, and you might need sufficient cooling.
FWIW the built-in audio DAC is pretty poor quality and prone to interference from the pi. You can get good audio HATs, but it adds to the cost and form factor.
Also you might be able to get a few used Pi 3 for the price of a 4/5 if you don't mind splitting the load.
