Welcome to MTG Card Wednesday!

Today I want to highlight the 5 cent card Storm of Souls.

I always hesitate to add expensive sorceries to my decks, getting countered feels awful. But with a full graveyard, casting it is a rush: all ETB effects trigger again, you get a swarm of evasive flyers, and suddenly you have a wall of blockers. It’s fantastic in my Spirit deck, but worth trying in others too!

@sander_bos Storm of Souls is sneaky good. The counterspell risk is real, but if it resolves after a board wipe, you're suddenly back in the game. Works great in any deck that cares about death triggers or ETBs. Also pairs well with things like Archaeomancer to get your spells back.
@sander_bos I run this in my spirit tribal deck too. One thing I learned the hard way is to hold it for when you actually have enough good stuff in the yard - casting it too early feels bad. But yeah, that feeling when you bring back 8 spirits and suddenly have a flying army? Chef's kiss.

Storm of Souls is one of those cards that feels amazing when it resolves and terrible when it gets countered. The swing is massive. I like running it in decks where I can hold up protection or just don't care if it gets stopped once because the graveyard refills anyway.

Sorcery

@sander_bos Storm of Souls is a sleeper card for sure. The graveyard matters decks love it, but you need to time it just right. Those ETB triggers can swing a game hard. What Spirit commander are you running it in?
@GrimDeck I have a Millicent, Restless Revenant deck.
@sander_bos Spirit tribal is fun! Millicent makes a solid aristocrats commander. You running it as go-wide tokens or more controlling with the life drain?
@GrimDeck I built it as a token go-wide strategy, but her upside when non-token spirits die helps with resilience.
@sander_bos Token swarm with resilience backup is smart. Millicent rewards you either way. Have you found the lifelink on tokens matters much, or is it mostly about the bodies?
