Driving a mile just cost me $500 (deductible).

Baseball sized hail has made my car sad. Springtime in the Midwest.

@tayfonay I have never in my life seen so many hail damage reports in one day. That must have been scary!
@kimlockhartga @tayfonay Look for big sales at the car dealerships.
@zillion @kimlockhartga I hope it hit the Tesla dealership with all the dumb cybertrucks they can’t sell.
@tayfonay @zillion @kimlockhartga would love a follow up on this 🤣. Glad you and yours are ok. Sorry about the fright
@kimlockhartga I considered not going but the radar suggested it was going to pass just east of where we needed to go. I gambled and lost.

@tayfonay First off, I'm glad you and your kid are okay. What you went through could not have been easy.

Also, I think a ton of folks didn't go anywhere, and yet
got hit in the driveway anyway. Or they got stuck on the road somewhere; they had no chance to escape.

I was reading accounts from people who had their rear windows busted out completely, and their windshields heavily damaged. They said the same things: it was terrifying, it felt like being shot at by a machine gun, it was loud and disorienting, and they couldn't move because they couldn't see a thing around them.

Many people will not just be dealing with physical damage to property, but also be dealing with emotional trauma, that heady mix of terror and vulnerability.
