@tayfonay It’s completely bonkers how intense but also how patchy the storm activity is. I’m north of Chicago on the lake, and I’m seeing wild stuff on the radar all around, like in every direction, but so far only a little light rain at my house

@tayfonay First off, I'm glad you and your kid are okay. What you went through could not have been easy.

Also, I think a ton of folks didn't go anywhere, and yet
got hit in the driveway anyway. Or they got stuck on the road somewhere; they had no chance to escape.

I was reading accounts from people who had their rear windows busted out completely, and their windshields heavily damaged. They said the same things: it was terrifying, it felt like being shot at by a machine gun, it was loud and disorienting, and they couldn't move because they couldn't see a thing around them.

Many people will not just be dealing with physical damage to property, but also be dealing with emotional trauma, that heady mix of terror and vulnerability.

I watched a playback of storm chase live feed and the storm chaser got three right THROUGH the windshield. Dude only had half a windshield and was still chasing.

@tayfonay It was a great car! I was walking through the shared office where all the admins at my company worked, and I held up the envelope with the last check in it (remember mailing checks?) and my boss said “Time for a new car!” He felt kinda bad about jinxing me a few weeks later.
