Microclimates are fascinating things. To extend fall viewing, start outside the city. Go north, where fall comes earlier. Then fall travels southward, hits the outside of the city. Because the city and its concrete retain so much heat, after fall has more than peaked in the surrounding parts of the city, High Park will finally be hitting its peak.
This is what it looks like to be standing under that willow.
It started raining one day and I had a choice of running to get out of the rain or just enjoying the rain. I chose the latter.
A little kid was walking by with his mother and said, "Mommy, there is something wrong with those ducks!" The mother tried to explain that there were different kinds of ducks and these were wood ducks. The boy was stubbornly fixated on what he felt a duck should be (guessing mallard), and insisted, "they are broken ducks!"
