But I still gotta go to fucking work tomorrow

well technically you don’t gotta

It’s just very helpful for things like mortgages and bills and stuff.

So you want to say they don’t have to, but they’re conditioned to do it. As if… as if you were trying to say that we live in the society
You don’t gotta, but you gotta. Because for some reason some people decided it’s not a right to have food/water/shelter, it’s something you have to earn.
You gotta put in if you’re gonna get out
From each according to their ability to each according to their need. Food, water, and shelter are needs and should be provided for unconditionally. We have the ability to fulfill these needs and not doing so is immoral. Some people are not able or willing to contribute to the collective good unless these needs have already been met, we all benefit from uplifting the destitute.
Sounds great until everyone wants a free ride, then there’s no one left to peddle.
Fortunately that is not how people or societies function
Yes, and I’m very glad we have a social safety net. But that wouldn’t be available if everyone just figured they didn’t want to work and had a right to food and shelter without contributing.
I don’t think you understand what I am saying. Human beings, as a group, are not just going to stop working just because the coercion of starvation and homelessness no longer exist. Human beings ache for purpose and community can provide that. People don’t hate labor, they hate being forced to labor for next to nothing in return. What you view as human laziness is better explained by alienation and hopelessness.
I work. I’m lazy. I wouldn’t work if I didn’t get paid and didn’t need to get paid. I would still do stuff, but not what other people wanted / needed. Money helps regulate what’s important in society to work on. Don’t get me wrong, the current system in the U.S. especially is completely fucked. But trading work for standard value units isn’t a bad way to organize things.
You’re right that it isn’t a “bad” way but it isn’t the only way nor is it the best way. In a socialist society your lack of labor would be a concern to other people. They’d ask questions like, “why aren’t you contributing”, “is something wrong/is your mental health okay”, and “why are we working so hard to provide for you when, despite being able bodied, you refuse to help provide for us all?” Some people would be immune to this social pressure sure but I argue that the majority of people aren’t. Besides, in a socialist society the amount of labor required of humanity would be reduced with time. Those socially useless endeavors would be encouraged as long as they aren’t harmful to the rest of us. I think you feel the way you do because you don’t have a sense of duty to your community as a result of your community either not supporting you or not even existing.
I would love to see that utopia, and while I certainly do have a sense of duty to my community, I can’t see even myself working as hard if I didn’t need to. I also think high tech would suffer without a drive to innovate and put it together on a larger project.
The soviets took a (in their own words) backwards feudal society to space in 40 years. Lack of innovation my ass. Anyway the goal would be for you to not work as hard yeah. A lot of our labor is wasted making other people rich instead of caring for the world and eachother. It wouldn’t be a utopia either, other contradictions would arise and there would be new problems for us to solve. Utopias don’t exist but we can make the world a better place
Because transactional relationships are easier than dealing with feelings. I guess.
Take to the woods! Shed the things of man! Find what it means to be alive.
He was actually quite powerful for a brief second
But he resisted, that was what took him out.
It didn’t even trip the breaker… ;_;
He truly discovered his potential.
He did with very little resistance.
basically cosmic horror
If I have to die anyway, I wanna die in a brand new way no one has ever died before.
Yes please make my death a brand new sentence.

EXPLOSIVE

INTERSTITIAL

DELAMINATION !

Is that anything like total protonic reversal?
There’s a thin membrane/layer of tissue that lives between all your organs, so that explosively delaminating would be protonic reversal bad, but in a slow, wet, meaty sort of way.
I first read the second word as “intestinal”
Like from some weird DNA mutation that leads to very painful years of slowly losing first your vision then your hearing until you are trapped in a shell of your body screaming in pain until deaths cold embrace?
Before checking the context I thought this was a reply to another thread about having a GITS robot body and was like “I can turn my pain settings to 0 🤷‍♂️.”
Cut by the Time Knife

Last time I saw this post I said it reminded me of this picture of a snake that was electrocuted after biting a wire, and then another snake what was electrocuted after biting the first snake.

expand

This one resonates with me more because the first snake was probably an idiot who saw the wire and thought, “I’m gonna bite that other snake.” Then he died from it.

Second snake comes along, sees the first snake, has the exact same thought, then dies in the exact same way.

Except the second snake was right. But the first snake’s stupidity still killed him.

that is fucking wild. Did you take this pic or find it?
Found it. It’s been doing the rounds for years.
That’s pretty damn horrifying 😵‍💫
Ew, what a mess.
For some reason I never considered snakes would bite each other
That’s the whole deal with the kingsnake and king cobra, they’re specialist snake-eaters. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophiophagy

I just assumed these snakes in particular were jerks.

I’m calling it: slop

That looks nothing like a mouse skull and the foot placement is too perfect

That picture’s probably old enough to drive.
It looks exactly like a mouse.
This predates AI you nimrods, knock it off
But I called it slop! Give me up dawgs!

Meybe he thought that since the wires are same color, nothing will halpen. Seriously who wired this.

This bit is probably specific for eu: Yellow (well yellow-green atleast) is suppose to be effin GND.

In the US, ground is bare copper, green, or green and yellow.

Neutral is white or grey

And hots are any other color, with black, red, and blue being common for lower voltages, and brown, orange, and yellow being common for higher voltages. But that’s just an unofficial standard, you can run all hot pink wires for your hots if you really wanted to.

memento mori

I mean, he coulda got hit by lightning instead, and he wasn’t designed to experience that either.
