I just read a sentence that referred to “the decades since” 2005 and I feel personally attacked.

@overholt

you're not alone john, you're not alone

we are old

"born in the 1900s" is apparently ancient now. this poor dad just driving his kids to school gets absolutely roasted for it:

@TheBreadmonkey @overholt

soon ben soon! we are close! 😅

@benroyce @TheBreadmonkey @overholt My daughter once asked if I’d ever known “a hippy”, and I didn’t even know where to begin. 🤣. I showed her pictures of her grandparents and me in our 70s gear. She laughed. A lot. 🤷🏻‍♀️🥳

@MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

i remember walking by two older ladies once and i was wearing a woodstock t shirt and they asked if i was there. i said "no, but i might have been conceived there" 🤣 🤣 🤣

@benroyce @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt Student doing a internship in the company I was.
We: talking about driving. I remembered when I just had my first car to hit the mirror of a parking car, and searching the next hour for a functioning phone box to report to the police.
Him "oh you forgot your mobile phone"
Me: There was not a thing as mobile phones then.
Him "Come on, you are not THAT old"

@Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

😂

painful

"the era before smartphones"

like

"the era before penicillin"

uggh. we're old

@benroyce Even before mobiles - the C net was just invented then and required a suitcase size installation and cost some tenthousand Euros @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

@Bugspriet

Yeah. I can so relate to this man.

When I told my kids, we had no mobile phones when I was their age, they started to wonder whether we had cars or TVs.

Fortunately for them, they did not ask for dinosaurs.

@benroyce @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

@mina @Bugspriet @benroyce @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt I worked in a county museum as a student. The dads — the know-it-alls who’d read artefacts’ cards then announce what they’d just read as if they’d always Known All Things 🙄 — had a clear and complete chronology of humans in their heads: modern humans, pioneers (19th C), Vikings, ancient Egyptians, cave men + dinosaurs (as co-habitants). So easy!

@tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

i've always been confused as to if the ancient aliens that helped the maya are the same ancient aliens that helped the egyptians

(/s)

@benroyce @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @TheBreadmonkey @overholt Well, of course they were. What else explains all the Egyptian stuff in the Grand Canyon. It’s just science, man. 🧐👽

@MissConstrue @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

yeah luckily lewis and clark could get the ancient alien tech from the grand canyon to george washington just in time to beat the british in the revolutionary war. napoleon almost got it instead. that would have totally screwed with history, and i understand history well and can appreciate the implications (/s)

@benroyce @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @TheBreadmonkey @overholt It’s how we got Mt Rushmore too! They say it was dynamite and decades, but I’ve seen dynamite, it just makes craters, it doesn’t make faces! And how would dynamite even know what George looked like? Whereas ancient aliens, they were there with him, propelling that boat across the Potomac. They made the artist paint the alien tech out. Because conspiracy. True story! 😇

@MissConstrue @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

ah

i see you've seen the PBS historical documentary "National Treasure: Book of Secrets"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Treasure:_Book_of_Secrets#Plot

National Treasure: Book of Secrets - Wikipedia

@benroyce @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt
Naw, the Ancient Aliens who helped the Egyptians were Egyptians and the Ancient Aliens who helped the Maya were Ancient Maya.

@Burn_this_ @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

get out of here with this reality bullshit! reality isn't entertaining! think about what's important here!

(/s)

😂

@benroyce @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt I think positing *two* alien space faring civilizations with a pyramid fetish is going to fall afoul of Occam's razor.

@rupert @tantramar @mina @Bugspriet @MissConstrue @TheBreadmonkey @overholt

yeah but William of Ockham who came up with Occam's Razor was an alien themselves. they implanted the idea of Occam's Razor in your head to cover it all up

{taps forehead and smiles}
