I‘m thinking about organising a conference „The Last Coder“ - in reference to the novel trilogy „The Last Policeman“. It would, of course, focus on coding without GenAI; would take place sometime between April and June ‘27 in my favourite conference location, which is about 50 km from Frankfurt. Max 60 people - or what the location can currently accommodate.
Anyone interested in co-organising such an event?

There seems to be a novel "The Last Coder" by some Winter, D.C.
This can only be GenAI generated, right?

THE LAST CODER Conference:
There's only one date available during the period that would work for me: Tursday May 13 - Saturday May 15 2027. It's directly before Whitsunday, which might be good or bad.

Before I reserve it, I'd love to know if something during these days (in over a year!) makes it impossible for folks from target groups to not come?

@jlink In Rückersbach? I would be interested in participating, but unfortunately I have no time to help organise.
@samir Rückersbach is the place. Participants are also needed :-)

@jlink @sf105 I *love* the Last Policeman trilogy. Read them once, then read them all to Dawn. Finished the last book while she was driving. I sobbed.

Your implied analogy is spot on. I’ll chip in to the extent of sending copies of the first book (paper or electronic) to all registrants.

@marick @sf105 That’s a great idea. You could also do an (online) reading of your favourite part(s) during the event.

@jlink @sf105 Could record some excerpt from the book at hits what (I assume) is the theme of the conference. That would be better than doing it during the event, because it might resonate with people, encourage them to come.

Hmm….

@jlink it took me a while you weren’t referring to “The Third Policeman” by Flann OBrian. Looks like I have some reading to do.
@jlink would consider joining.
