I have finished the temperature blanket panel for 2025! This is a decade-long project. Each stripe represents the local daily high temperature in farenheit: red is 90s, orange is 80s, yellow is 70s, and so on.

To capture the entire winter and summer seasons, the first bottom row actually starts on November 1st of the previous year, and the numbers are placed on January 1st of the labeled year, and it continues up from there.

@Cat_LeFey

This is stunning!

Could I ask about your coloura and how they link to temperatures please?

Did you have a set colour for certain temperature ranges?

@Cat_LeFey @at this is great both as fibre art and as citizen science!
@Cat_LeFey My personal climate scarfβ€”One side is daily Philadelphia temperatures in the year I was born (1956) and the other is Philly temps in 2021 when I made the scarf.
@Cat_LeFey
Wow, what a great work!

@Cat_LeFey

It's a crying shame that politicians are not this committed to doing what they should be bloody well ('scuse me) doing.

They're all far more committed to collecting money, rather than helping us to save ourseves from doom.

I can only assume they have arranged for a Space-Uber to pick them up while we are all dying.

@Cat_LeFey
What a lot of work - and it looks great!πŸ‘
@Cat_LeFey
Very impressive work.
... besides the unit of measurement 🫣
@Cat_LeFey I'm a knitter who has been wanting to make a temperature blanket for my first year of marriage for a long time. Yours turned out lovely!
@Cat_LeFey I'm surprised 2025 isn't more red. At least in the northeast US, it felt like one of the hottest, most grueling summers of my life.

@Cat_LeFey Which reminds me… I should post an update on mine!

I'm also making a decade temperature blanket, with high and low temps for each day (so I can use it as a cheat sheet for my garden planning :P)

@Cat plaese do another one in the world's standard measure, degree celsius ...
@Cat_LeFey This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
@Cat_LeFey Pretty cool project. We need more of it!

@Cat_LeFey the perfect blanket! use the warmer summer end in winter and the cooler winter end in summer. except that this incredible artefact belongs in a museum of modern art.

well done Cat you clever, creative genius! πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

@Cat_LeFey
Can I ask you something? I started one in 2025 and up to Feb it was looking beautiful. But then....Trump. with his messing around with airports and weather services, my temperatures were taken down that I decided to use. They weren't tracking for a bit. I then thought maybe use black to signify the loss of data. Anyway, my question is, did you experience any of that last year? What did you do?

@kcanales02 Yeah, I've had that happen a few times, usually when there's a big solar flare. I use Weather Underground, which has data from a bunch of official and at-home stations. Even in my rural area, I can always find one near me that has a number that's close enough, it might be off by a few degrees but I try not to think about it, lol

@Cat_LeFey That's a cool take on the temperature blanket, while a much more longstanding project obviously
