I think it's worth trying for people with the time and patience, which I don't.

@Openhuman you must be on iOS. The Android app was bad and has gotten worse. Which is sad, because I really like the idea of Pixelfed. 😢 (and I've donated € to support development)
@leanderlindahl i was online. but yeah ios is also working. it was very slow in the version before and it got significantly better depending on the server
Sebastiaan Ammerlaan 🇳🇱@leanderlindahl @Openhuman I think development slowed down a bit recently because of the focus on Loops, but last I heard I new version is coming. And in the meantime, #pixelix is a pretty good alternative app.

Enea Lecas@leanderlindahl I've put my Mastodon link in my bio in my other socials: Facebook, YouTube, Quora. I don't think that anyone ever joined me from there. I think I only once gained 2 followers from Reddit, from a post that went viral. So the results have not been amazing. But you can well try. As others said, try to promote an app that matches people's interests.

@leanderlindahl also, I've already posted about Mastodon and Loops on Facebook and Quora (I don't have Instagram). People seamed only mildly interested.

You know what would be nice? Some kind of database of graphics urging people to switch. @Ullilust made some really good ones a while back, for instance, which were great for sharing as my Signal & Whatsapp statuses. These days I'd like some more graphics like that, which would be easy to just share and send out into the world, without first having to gather them or make 'em myself.

@ronvanderende yes. Its a difficult issue. I'm torn. Not sure what I think. I wasn't there to begin with so I didn't give anything up. Or actually I used Instagram for 1-2 months in 2011.
But I'm thinking maybe posting graphics, messages about digital sovereignty with masto watermark and the text "post from Mastodon" to indirectly awaken an interest and show its not the primary channel.
99,9% of people don't even know what Mastodon/Fediverse is..
I'm torn... Hence the survey.
