We all knew Trump was lying when he claimed Iran blew up their own school, but now we have the photos showing a US cruise missile hitting the site. The same type of cruise missile is featured in social media posts by the US, being fired from a ship on the same day.

So yeah, somebody who is probably in their early 20s gets to live with the knowledge that they pushed that button, while a raging asshole posted about it on social media, and of course, almost 160 children died.

@tragivictoria @jbayes Yep. At this point I almost consider MAGAts to be just malevolent automata. They are (for the most part) so deeply programmed that it's not worth considering them as anything but a constant - a block chained to our ankles. It's the ones who decided not to vote who made a willing decision to let evil happen. They're the ones with the hose, filling up the pool while we drown.

Agreed. But even deeper concern for me, starting before the Venezuelan action...

I was assuming that there were some sailors already in the brig for refusing to obey obviously illegal orders (like the infamous double tap--killing helpless survivors in the water).

To my knowledge, there has been no reporting on my presumed conscientious objectors. I hope this does not mean that there was full compliance up and down the chain of command?!

@IncHulk @Crystal_Fish_Caves @mcnado I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that the LLM picked the coordinates based on faulty Google maps labeling. It's so common for things to be labeled incorrectly as being a block or two away from where they actually are (esp in places with limited data input). Someone probably said "Give me a list of all places labeled "barracks"" and the LLM read through the metadata and said "Here you go! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with 😉"

* An AI that was made "general" of this war selected targets and picked a "naval base" to attack.
* This naval "base" was in fact a hospital, with another possible "Republican Guard" target being a nearby theater.

It sounds like it was Anthropic's AI, and they're VERY concerned with making sure a human stays in that loop. All humans that were failed to look because AI is super duper smart. Or they don't give any fucks. Both probably.

I was never in the military so I don't know but is it possible that at least some of the soldiers directly involved really didn't know their target was a girls' school? As in, they weren't told the truth so that they'd have no qualms about pushing the buttons?
