I don't want to work smarter or harder and I have zero fucking interest in either The Hustle or The Grind. I want to work the exact amount I need to afford a normal life, which used to be possible, and now apparently requires a podcast??

@Daojoan

Pretty sure that if you don't want The Hustle or The Grind then you need look hard at The Side Gig.

@Daojoan podcast and a email list

@Daojoan Being wealthy should require competition. Getting by should not.

And yes, way too much "how to be rich" is basically "find some suckers and sell them the dream you intend to live."

@Daojoan This!
I want to go in, do my bit, and then go home to my family, knowing we have food on the table, a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and enough left over to live comfortable if unremarkable lives.
I don't want to deal with managers throwing temper tantrums because I'm not doing the work of 4 people, I don't want to troubleshoot problems caused by the people at head office, nor do I want to take the flak from customers pissed of because of those problems.
I don't want to have to take on "side hustles" to make ends meet, nor do i want to monetise my hobbies - doing something to make money is working, and I spend enough time doing that, I just want to relax!
And I really don't want to spend money i don't have to buy things I don't need to impress people I neither like nor care about.
Spending time with my family - my wife, my kids, my grandkids - is more important to me than that expensive new toy, that new and expensive tourist trap destination, or being a good influencer.
Unless, of course, I'm influencing people to consume less and help those around them.
I'm fine with that

@Daojoan

A podcast, a linkedin account full of self praise, at-least 2 coffee mugs that say 'girl boss' and a side hustle selling online coaching in something really tedious and useless that is framed as life changing.

Nah thanks haha i'm with you on this one - what happened to celebrating life/work balance? "I work to live, not live to work' was a popular mantra not too long ago.

@Daojoan My most recent job keeps talking about working with grit and determination. Buzz words for "work harder so the stockholders can have a better return on investment." I work my 8 hours, I do everything I am supposed to do, and then go home. I don't work overtime on my time. I don't check in on the weekend or holidays. I am not putting myself on the path for advancement. I am on the path to retirement. I don't care about the stockholders.
