AndrewI’ve been on Mastodon for a while, but this instance is my first dive into fully self hosting. Thanks to everyone on here for the encouragement. I’ll probably make mistakes, but so far so good! This instance is only for me, I would only ever consider allowing people I know on real life to use it, but I haven’t convinced anyone of the wonders of the fediverse yet! #mastodon #selfhosting
This is all part of my slow move away from big tech. I’ve already moved my email, calendar and cloud storage provider away from apple. I’m reading more physical books and have a non-kindle e-reader for travel. Unfortunately, I can really move away from windows and mac OS because of work. Try as I might I just couldn’t get specific software to run on linux. Anyone got any other low hanging fruit recommendations? #digitalautonomy #TechFreedom
