I keep getting offers from randos offering to setup various crypto currency things to sponsor me or curl.

I will NEVER agree to have my name associated with any crypto currency efforts/scams. There's no room for debate. A hard no.

@bagder curlcoin: transferring your funds to our wallets since 1996

@cutekita @bagder

I'm sure that when I'd google "curlcoin" right now that not just one people tried to push a scam coin with that name already...

@bagder "We are reaching out to you about your CURL's Extended Warranty"
LOL
@bagder lol he said hard no to weinercoin

@bagder

i suppose you could be flattered that folks see curl as a possible avenue to launder money via crypto? :)

@paul_ipv6 being identified as a possible gullible person to help them run a con is not what I would consider flattery 😁
@bagder Matt Levine went through this recently. Someone set up a coin in gastowns name with no association with the creator.
@bagder Is that a not quite specific enough wish gone wrong kinda thing?
@bagder when im not destitute, you are one of the foss humans im giving a large sum of money to. Thank you for the time you put into Curl.
@bagder curl is so hacker that the authors anonymity must be protected at all costs and to continue their awesome work, you clearly need a crypto thing that pays the bills.
@bagder and I, at least, respect you all the more for it 🤜
@bagder What do you mean you don’t want to finance your project by establishing the dumbest casino scam possible?! 😝
@bagder Btw, there must be a license out there that says “this project is free for you if you use it for a company that makes less than €nnn (or x% of your country’s GDP, or any other economic metric), in which case you must contribute at least a couple paid developers or pay €nnn in monthy fees”, right? Because if there isn’t, we probably are in dire need of such license, I think. 🤔
(I’m pretty tired of mega-corporations leeching off humble foss projects. This needs to end yesterday).
@dmian I'm sure there's a license or two like that. But that would make it not open source anymore.
@bagder Yes, I understand. I love open source, but I hate trillion dollar companies leeching these projects. They don’t play by the rules, don’t really care about anything except making money for shareholders. I’m tired of the situation. 😞
@bagder I propose this license to be called the “Anti-greedy bastard” license.
@bagder “We’re sad to inform you that the Curl project will no longer be maintained. We’ll release a new project caller ‘purl’ under the new AGB license. Sorry for the inconvenience”. 😆 (Sorry, I’ll stop now, I’m having way too much fun with the idea 😝)
