I Can't Believe It's Not Zero!
Had a Tesla come close enough to me (as a pedestrian) to trigger its emergency braking system today. Honest question: if we can have these fancy emergency braking systems, why can’t we have “just prevent the car from going 40mph into a crosswalk in a 25mph zone with stopped traffic in the other lane?”

@steve I’ve been wondering for quite a while when we are going to have that. Ie the car proactively disallowing you to go faster than the speed limit rather than just giving you the annoying beep.

@helge I don’t really care if people want to speed outside of town, but this was right downtown in an objectively very dangerous situation.
