We need *good* politicians - not just better
Slightly less murderous, slightly less genocidal, and slightly less bought isnt much
The bar is currently so low

Fortunately (in the UK) the #greens have huge momentum and have a great new member of parliament.....reasons to be hopeful

@OliverNoble @randahl the solution isn't better politicians. The process of gaining political power makes even well meaning people worse.

The electoral process forces you to focus on electoralism over change, and by the time you're elected you no longer share the interests of your electorate.

Any system which gives individuals power will eventually devolve into self serving autocracy. Either slowly in drips and drops or suddenly in a huge cascade.

Power is the problem, not the solution.
