They will feel the burden when voted away...
Ignorance is bliss...
And besides better politicians, they need real diplomats!
Not sons-in-law and slimy real estate cronies.
It is sad, but you are totally right 😥
You cannot imagine the reactions and the words (here in #Spain) of the speakers and leaders of the right-wing parties and mass media.
It is disgusting 🤮 to listen to their rants to defend the criminal bombing of #Iran. Some of them are even asking for the #US dictator to retaliate and pressure more the country.
Our right-wing politicians really miss their 2003 implication (#Bush, #Blair and #Aznar) in the invasion of #Irak.
@OliverNoble @randahl the solution isn't better politicians. The process of gaining political power makes even well meaning people worse.
The electoral process forces you to focus on electoralism over change, and by the time you're elected you no longer share the interests of your electorate.
Any system which gives individuals power will eventually devolve into self serving autocracy. Either slowly in drips and drops or suddenly in a huge cascade.
Power is the problem, not the solution.
@randahl The most horrifying aspect of this is that both of these monsters were fairly elected in modern democratic republics by free citizens. Both of them represent a deep and troubling weakness of democracy itself, to fall victim to fear, ignorance, bigotry, and propaganda.
I don't propose an alternative to democracy. For all its problems, it still offers the best hope for humanity. But we sure do need to get a lot better at it.
@randahl I wholeheartedly agree with you
😢
I don't even know why Israel even bothered to bomb that painting of a helicopter on the ground.
There weren't any paintings of kids by it. 🤷♀️
