is it appropriate to send a get well card to somebody in hospice?

seriously

One of our volunteers had a heart attack

And since we don't see people on a regular basis we've been working on getting the card signed for the past week- it was going to go out in the mail on Monday.

I just found out tonight that the person is now in hospice.

I'm not sure if we should still send the card.

@MsMerope
Maybe a thinking of you card?

@Dougfir by the time we herd up enough cats to sign it it will probably be too late.

and a generic "from your friends at..." just seems **too** generic

@MsMerope Send a card to say you know, you care, and you’re thinking of him. You may not know the situation, but Jimmy Carter was in hospice for years. It just means no more curative treatments. Can still get palliative treatments.
@MsMerope Any way you could criss out some of the words in the card and replace them with something more appropriate? I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but have done that before with family, this one seems like maybe not doable. But I am sure the person would like to receive the well wishes from those they know, from the card is a tough one.
@other95 yeah unfortunately 10 to 12 people signed the card and everybody wrote something along the lines of: get well soon, feel better, speedy recovery etc…
@MsMerope tough situation. I personally would send a note with the card saying I'm sorry, this is before we knew, but wanted you to know how much all your friends/colleagues care about you. But it's definitely awkward and I could see you deciding not to send it.
