One reason I am not into competitive online games is the inconsistent rules.
No turbo controller allowed? Cool. No aimbots allowed? Awesome. But having a super high end PC and display allowing to play at hundreds of FPS while an opponent may be stuck at 60? Yeah no that's fine.

@memoriesin8bit even when companies create a competative game perhaps they are still targeting a wider appeal with fancy (but demanding) graphics? If they instead made a game which ran very well on low end hardware then user hardware performance differences would be of little concern competatively.

@tab I mean to be honest if I made a competitive game I'd probably try to move heaven and hell to make game inputs and physics independent from FPS which can be simple, but I think a lot of developers - even those of competitive games - take the actual competitive scene a lot less serious than the players with their 1000000000 FPS setups and mice with drilled holes that shave off another 3g which they then gain again by putting grip tape on it...
