What is your favourite Obsidian community plugin, and why do you find it helpful?  ๐Ÿ‘€

@Em0nM4stodon I would have said dataview in the past, but since bases was released, templater.
@a Why do you find it helpful?
@Em0nM4stodon @a I agree about Templater. I use it for inserting different sets of note properties depending on the note type
@captgoodhope @Em0nM4stodon yeah, it is a bit of a pain to create custom templates, but then you are done. Daily notes? book reviews? anything else? you have a bunch of fields ready to fill or already filled (e.g., dates)
@a @captgoodhope That seems similar to what I'm used to with Anytype.
@Em0nM4stodon @a I looked at Anytype but stuck with Obsidian. A lot of the functionality in alternate apps can be done in Obsidian with plugins

@captgoodhope @a I absolutely love Anytype, and will definitely keep using it for some usages. It's so powerful customization-wise. But I need more separation, and I cannot have multiple installs of Anytype at once.

What I'm looking to replace with Obsidian is actually Standard Notes, which unfortunately lacks a lot of functionalities I need in my work now. Plus it has some bugs/weaknesses and I can't tolerate anymore.

@Em0nM4stodon @a You can have multiple vaults in Obsidian, if thatโ€™s what you mean by separation
@captgoodhope @a Indeed, I just discovered that this week and it's absolutely amazing! โœจ Do you know if separate Obsidian vaults can Sync (or not) independently from each other?
@Em0nM4stodon @a Yes but I think the limit is five
@captgoodhope @a Good to know, thanks!
@Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope @a I use a raspberry pi running Syncthing to sync my Obsidian vaults (and many other things). Always have my Obsidian vaults on my mobile. If I make a change on the go, it is synced to my computer and tablet shortly after arriving home.
@ConLuegering @Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope you have an android device?
@a @Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope Me? Yes. ๐Ÿ™‚
@ConLuegering @Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope I guessed, because it is not that easy to use syncthing with iOS
@a @Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope Can you use the iCloud to sync files? Or OneDrive? Tricky bit under iOS is, that Apple is very strong to reduce energy consumption and with that does not allow background sync.
With that you might need to manually open the sync app to get your files, which might be annoying.
@ConLuegering @Em0nM4stodon @captgoodhope you can, but as you mention, it has some nuances.
