While Proton's end-to-end encryption can keep account data private, the company's policies do not fully protect payment information. Court records reveal that Proton Mail responded to a request from Swiss authorities for payment details tied to an account associated with the Stop Cop City protests in Atlanta, and that information was then shared with the FBI.

lukalobster 🇪🇺@expecto_obscurus I am all about ditching US big tech, but I think it is better not to fall in another ecosystem. @protonprivacy is great, but putting you email, files, photo, vpn and passwords in one single hand it is not that smart imo.
I will prefer to keep a third party VPN supplier and maybe also another passw manager.

@lukalobster @protonprivacy I hear you. The fear that one company still has a lot of control over your digital life is legitimate. That's not a threat that I'm personally concerned with. Especially when the content in that ecosystem is E2EE. If Proton decides to suspend my account, its because a government coerced them to, and if thats the case, then I have bigger problems.
