In the 30s, however, you could set up you experimental interdimensional hypercar superlaser skunkworks in any affordable abandoned warehouse in the less reputable industrial district you wanted, and/or could afford on a minimum wage

sleet01@sargoth Honestly, "the bad guys are incompetent fascists trying to recreate their extra-dimensional biotech using parts they could scrounge from 1980s Radio Shack bins" as a setting let the props department shoot past "cheesy SF" to "downright bizarre" as an aesthetic, and it's one of my favorite things about the movie.
