I don't think the UK media have made nearly enough noise about the US Navy sinking an *unarmed* Iranian warship and then, in clear violation of the Geneva Conventions, leaving them to drown.

This is a heinous war crime which the media would be rightly up in arms about if any country that wasn't nominally an "ally" had done it.

@statsguy Oh the UK media have swung pretty far to the right.

I have still not forgiven the Beebs for the time they tried to downplay the fascism of actual fascist groups.

Or all the times they call trans women "men who identify as women" 🤮

@sitcom_nemesis @statsguy I still haven’t forgiven them for platforming bannon that one time
@clarkiestar @statsguy The fact that you and I had completely different examples in mind when thinking about how the BBC capitulates to fascism tells a lot about the state of the BBC
@sitcom_nemesis The thing they did that annoyed me years ago was a magazine piece on asbestos, in which they dismissed the claims of qualified experts (actual scientists) in favour of -- I am not making this up -- their insurance carrier. Yeah, guys, your insurer is ALWAYS going to exaggerate risks, to reduce their financial exposure. I'd expect a top-flight news organ to work that one out, but they somehow didn't.
