Statement from Quakers in Britain about tonight's police raid on Westminster Meeting House. Guys, I don't think they're buying the Met's line about the nonviolent direct action training being a cover for plotting "mass shoplifting"
Here’s the same statement from UK Quakers about the police raid on Westminster Meeting House, but on the website and with nicer formatting: https://www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-events/news/quaker-meeting-house-raided-by-metropolitan-police-again
Quaker Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again

Yesterday evening, 5 March 2026, for the second time in a year, the Metropolitan Police raided a Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists who were meeting there, on the grounds that they were conspiring to commit a criminal act.

@considermycat hard to believe and yet, the world we now live in

@considermycat

The tag 'Institutionally Corrupt' has been used against the Met for many years.

But now it has to be added to the pro-zionist 'law makers' that exert a dark control over western government's.

I call it. 'The Epstein Coincidences'

@considermycat ah yes the Quakers, universally known as a hive of villainy. 😤

@considermycat
Historically, nobody raiding Quaker meeting houses has ever been one of the good guys.

I mean this was the Met again, so it didn't need saying, but still.

@petealexharris @considermycat The raid does serve the important function of letting the Quakers know that their moral compass is still sound.

If I were a Quaker and my meeting house WASN’T getting raided periodically by The Hate, I'd start to wonder if I was doing everything I could to combat injustice.

@angusm @petealexharris @considermycat as a former Quaker (and, indeed, a former clerk to a preparative meeting and a former member of the national Peace and Service Committee), I'm pleased to see the Society has not completely abandoned its principles.

@considermycat

Missed The Onion headline:

"Police say they shut down Quaker shoplifting training"

No one would have been fooled - too silly by half.

@considermycat what bothers me here is that the only online news source i'm able to find this in is Catholic News.

Good on them, but i would have thought it was worth a mention in the Guardian or something?

@considermycat “It was at this point the Quakers thought, screw it, if we’re going to get arrested anyway, let’s start training for violent insurrection.”
@considermycat Quakers training for "mass shoplifting"? Couldn't they at least come up with something … more convincing? Like, vegetarians training for mass meat consumption at a steakhouse, or something?
@considermycat It's never comfy for Quakers when there's a King Charles around! Prove me wrong!
