@kura the instance I'm on has a bunch of lovely tone indicators such as
and others for situations like this; I'm not even sure where *we* got those from (don't know whom to credit), but the concept of tone indicators is generally pretty widespread, and emojos having their full meaning baked in (into shortcodes and consequently tooltips) has been a brilliant way to provide "explanation on demand" without inconveniencing readers much
@kura that's precisely the problem the emojo format attempts to fix; its shortcode explains what it is (though not all clients make it easy to see them, on desktop web hovering usually helps, but mobile often seems to have nothing?..)
I suppose one would have to previously encounter an unrecognizable emojo to have an inkling to look at its shortcode, which is, admittedly, another random prerequisite and a problem
@kenney
Words have meanings.
Hide: They are still running in the background, you just don't see them.
Block (Mozilla): Like an ad blocker, takes out some parts, but needs to be updated constantly because they keep trying to sneak it past the block.
Disable: It's still installed, waiting for you to absentmindedly click the wrong option, or install the next update.
Uninstall: It was installed without your consent (we used to call that malware), but at least you can remove it.
Not installed: The correct way of giving the user choice.
@kenney you don't have to redo it for each platform, just write and copy-paste.
If you really can't bother to spend those minutes to be accessible, just content warn posts without alt text, that's two words and a single additional click for "no alt" in the cw, that's like half a second, I'm sure you have half a second to spare if you're spending time replying to comments
No alt text = blocked.
Bye!
@kenney @konstruct Oh wow... I'm quite disapointed at this. :(
Mind you, it's better to not add alt text to a picture than put something like "picture" but it's better to put "don't forget to add a checkbox to deactivate those ai features" in your fucking TEXT than add a picture with no alt text.
@kenney
If you don't, you can still add #alt4me and someone will answer with a text that you just add by editing your message.
Would you have time for that ?
@konstruct
I want disable at the router.
