The Globe and Mail:
“Mr. Carney’s new statement on Iran read like a leader having an argument with himself.”

Carney is lost on Iran and needs to find himself and connect with the Canadian people right quick.

@chris who owns the Globe and Mail?
From here, Carney seems to be well on top of the situation.
What would you like done that isn't being?
@Photo55 a spine.

@chris that's something to metaphorically have*
What do you want the spiny one to _do_ or not do?

* And the impression Mr Carney left here from running our national central bank (bank of England) was of considerable fortitude and expertise

@Photo55 I fear his experience as central banker is not translating well into public politics.

What does he need to *do*? Communicate clearly and consistently the positions of the Canadian government and, I would hope, do a much better job reflecting both the historical and present feelings of Canadians when it comes to war and peace.

@chris
To whom?

Ambiguity is a useful part of #diplomacy particularly when diplomacy might be carried on "by other means".

The threat, as #Nimzowich said, is always stronger than its execution.

You would like to bomb Tehran? Very fashionable. Or Washington?

#Clausewitz #Machiavelli

@Photo55 “to whom" should be self-evident

@chris
Really? Then it would be surprising if it had not occurred. I'm assuming you are not the ambassador to Canada of whichever of the Powers it is self-evident might usefully be informed. Or not informed. Or left uncertain. Or mis-informed.

You might find a round or three of the board game Diplomacy enlightening.

I'm a bit bored with this, now.
