We’re leaving Facebook / Instagram / Meta / X.

We no longer want to contribute to platforms whose algorithms amplify hate, polarization, and AI-driven propaganda.

We will remain active on Mastodon and Reddit.

Question for you: which platforms do you think we should also be active on?

@novacustom Maybe add RSS on your blog (and keep on staying on the web)
@nihkeys Thanks for the suggestion! We'll definitely look into adding RSS.
@novacustom I do not regularly check Reddit, but I don't mean visibility on Reddit is unnecessary. By the way, if Bluesky meets your criteria, bridging from Mastodon to that may be nice to people there.

@novacustom Very good decision.

The only other viable option I see, besides the Fediverse given that you already have a presence in it via Mastodon, would be Eurosky: https://www.eurosky.tech/.

Basically, you can access Bluesky and other AT-Protocol-based solutions, but with your data hosted in Europe (in the Netherlands as far as I know).

I haven't tested yet, even though I received my invitation codes for myself and my company. Any feedback or thoughts are welcome.

eurosky
@Skyper Thanks for the tip! We’ll check out Eurosky. Curious to hear how your experience is once you’ve tested it.
@Skyper @novacustom an Eurosky account is still completely dependent on the American Bluesky corporation, doesn't really have almost any benefits over just using their PDS too and is even funded by Americans. The Dutch foundation is just a shell chaired by an American that seems to have been created for the express purpose of making it appear Free Our Feeds / Eurosky is more European than it really is...
@ikuturso @novacustom Agreed, I'm aware of it, and that's why I only recommend Fediverse platforms around me. That's said, from a business perspective, to reach a broader audience, it doesn't seem to be a bad idea. It's a trade-off I think. But if you have counter-arguments, please share, I'm all ears.
@novacustom as another person mentioned, RSS feeds would be perfect!
@beabea Thank you, we will look into it.
@novacustom Note that reddit also amplifies hate, polarization, and it uses your content for AI training, plus the AI-driven propaganda πŸ˜‰
@novacustom You might want to check out @pixelfed as a Instagram alternative.
@novacustom mastodon, lemmy, pixelfed, rss and yes maybe eurosky

@novacustom

I notice that 1) you are not leaving #linkedin and 2) you don't have #rss πŸ€“

For most web platforms RSS is built-in so you might want to consider it as a quick-win.

About Linkedin, alas there is no decent alternative, the #fediverse is allergic to "real identity" person platforms so they have not been developed.

You might also want to try #eurosky (the fediverse is allergic to that too 🀣 ) - its likely to be less "convivial" but maybe broader reach if that is important to you.

@novacustom If you ever plan on making a lot of video clips, might not be a bad idea to set up either a Peertube and/or Loops. Mastodon is fine but video is not its primary medium and if that matters for how you interact those may be a logical fit. Huge supporter of your decision to leave the platforms you've specified!

@novacustom great move!

Other services depends on what type of content you create, but there's Loops for short clips (insta, tiktok), pixelfed for images (insta) and PeerTube for videos (YouTube). I wish more companies would put their stuff on PeerTube. Here's my "collection"

Then there's also Lemmy for Reddit. I never got into that myself, but worth trying out.

A PeerTube instance for Folkdata.

@leanderlindahl @novacustom Came to post this, but much less elegantly. :-)
