Yes, this. That Walmart M1 Air was a market test, I think. It worked. And the MacBook Neo will now be available worldwide.

IMO it all comes down to Apple silicon. It has raised the bar so much that there's space below the MacBook Air.

The MacBook Neo is basically the Walmart M1 MacBook Air. But new. Their specs are a bit different: Neo has a better webcam, display, CPU/NPU. M1 Air had a better GPU, battery, a Force Touch trackpad. Both had 8GB memory. Both had 256GB storage. Both were $599.

@jsnell I always advice people who ask me what computer to buy to go for the MacBook Air. The M series MacBook Air has raised the bar so much that you must really know your needs before opting for the pro.
