Israel tells ppl in Tehran to leave.

They intend to turn a city of almost 10 million ppl into something akin to the wasteland of Gaza

And there is nothing on Earth that will stop them

@Geri

Insurrection in the ranks?

These people are mentally unhinged and it's not gone unnoticed where it most matters.

@ReggieHere
..yea, saw much the same and commented in a similar way. I recall a conversation i had with an ex-colleague during the iraq war. She said the war would be over soon because 'God was on our side.' She found it hard to understand my reply, which I need not mention here

"A combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers at a briefing Monday that the #Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint by a non-commissioned officer." I shit you not. @Geri @ReggieHere Can religious people never step back to see the farcical nature of their beliefs?

A God of infinite compassion, love and power would stop all senseless deaths and illnesses.

@Geri @ReggieHere Religions are often enclosures for those wanting to exercise dominion over others.

@NicelyManifest

Abrahamic religions are for sure.

That was a large part of the attraction for European Kings and Popes, because a God-Ordained King is better than an ordinary King without any divine backing. Really useful for securing a future for the kids too.

@Geri

@NicelyManifest

....I'm not sure polytheistic religions have quite the same cachet for would-be dictators because they don't do such a good job of embedding a structural hierarchy.

@Geri

@ReggieHere @Geri Not sure I know of any polytheistic religions. Am suitably curious ... and here I could resort to AI or Google - but conversation I prefer.

@NicelyManifest

Polytheism refers to any religion with more than one God, so Hinduism would be the major example in today's world, and I think most if not all of the animist religions were polytheistic, including the Greek, Roman and Norse Gods in Europe, and the many life and nature religions in Africa, Asia, Australasia and South America, many of which had some significant influence on the ways in which the various civilisations adopted and adapted to the Abrahamic religions.

@Geri

@NicelyManifest

...the Abrahamic religions themselves weren't the first monotheistic religions because they were pre-dated by Zoroastrianism, with which they share (stole?) a number of common tenets.

@Geri

@ReggieHere Many thanks. I probably should have deduced this. Lazy mind sometimes!

Plagiarism is clearly not isolated to the arts ... and still, religious myth promoters in town centres are untouchable ...

@NicelyManifest

True, although I'm less concerned about town square evangelists than I am about Christian fundamentalists in the DoD!

@ReggieHere As indeed you should be. Fundamentalists always seems to describe those with such polarised views that there can be no merit attributal.

@ReggieHere @Geri Very much so.

Humans are deeply attracted to and respectful of status.

Spectacular trick to establish an extremely wealthy monarchy operated by ordinary people by chance of birth.

@NicelyManifest

Absolutely. If the word 'coup' had been in common usage at the time then it couldn't have been more apt.
