..yea, saw much the same and commented in a similar way. I recall a conversation i had with an ex-colleague during the iraq war. She said the war would be over soon because 'God was on our side.' She found it hard to understand my reply, which I need not mention here

That has the equivalent of 'externalities' in economics in its cop-out 'God works in mysterious ways'.
So God can witness a crime against an innocent person, and do nothing to help, with impunity. Madness.
It's handy that there's always a specific answer to a specific question, even if the big picture remains fundamentally flawed on every level.

But in many, it gets unravelled sooner or later.
