L'Unità: A Israele è permesso ciò che alla Russia è vietato

Qui la guerra non é ancora finita: é finito l’uso di armi a tappeto, ma la gente continua a morire. Qui sono molto arrabbiati con la comunità internazionale, perché la comunità internazionale non permette alla Russia di fare quello che fa in Ucraina, ma non fa lo stesso con Israele rispetto a quello che fa in Palestina.
Prima o poi la guerra in Terra Santa finirà e voglio che si dica che in quel momento c’eravamo: dobbiamo fare rete, anche se abbiamo opinioni diverse, partendo dal basso, dai territori, dalle persone e da coloro che credono sia possibile fare la differenza. Quello che adesso sta accadendo è che uno nega l’esistenza dell’altro nello stesso territorio. E noi dobbiamo essere quella presenza che dà fastidio, essere pronti perché verrà il momento in cui tutto questo finirà: ciò che si costruisce nella violenza e nell’ingiustizia fallisce. La pace deve essere preparata da chi nel territorio è disposto a mettersi in gioco per fare qualcosa insieme agli altri anche se hanno culture diverse, evitando che il nostro desiderio di giustizia crei altre barriere.
Ogni giorno tocco con mano la situazione a Gaza e in Israele: la comunità internazionale ha dimostrato poco rendendo difficile dal punto di vista anche umano pensare a una prospettiva a breve termine. La situazione rimane molto problematica a Gaza, in Cisgiordania e in Israele. A Gaza il 53% della Striscia è sotto controllo diretto di Israele e 2 milioni di persone sono sfollate nel restante 47%. Rispetto a qualche mese fa la situazione in fatto di cibo e aiuti è migliorata ma manca tutto il resto. I giovani non possono andare a scuola perché sono chiuse da tre anni e le leggi della Knesset hanno segnato la vita in maniera grave: i titoli di studio palestinesi non sono più riconosciuti. L’odio che la guerra ha creato è fortissimo, la gente continua a morire e tutto ciò sta creando un deterioramento continuo. Non bisogna cercare l’esito immediato ma essere fedeli alla propria coscienza e ascoltare il territorio, non avendo paura di mettersi in gioco.

Here the war is not yet finished: the use of indiscriminate weapons is over, but people continue to die. I am very angry with the international community because the international community doesn’t allow Russia to do what it’s doing in Ukraine, but it doesn’t do the same with Israel regarding what it’s doing in Palestine.

Soon the war in Holy Land will end and I want it to be said that at that moment we were there: we must network, even if we have different opinions, starting from the bottom, from the territories, from the people, and from those who believe it’s possible to make a difference. What is happening now is that one denies the existence of the other in the same territory. And we must be that presence that annoys, be ready because that time will come when all this will end: what is built in violence and injustice fails. Peace must be prepared by those in the territory who are willing to put themselves at risk to do something together with others, even if they have different cultures, avoiding that our desire for justice creates other barriers.

Every day I feel the situation in Gaza and in Israel: the international community has shown little, making it difficult from a human point of view to think about a short-term perspective. The situation remains very problematic in Gaza, in the West Bank, and in Israel. In Gaza, 53% of the Strip is under direct Israeli control, and 2 million people are displaced in the remaining 47%. Compared to a few months ago, the situation in terms of food and aid has improved, but everything else is lacking. Young people cannot go to school because they have been closed for three years, and the laws of the Knesset have seriously marked people’s lives: Palestinian qualifications are no longer recognized. The hatred that the war has created is very strong, people continue to die, and all of this is creating a continuous deterioration. One must not seek an immediate result but be faithful to one’s conscience and listen to the territory, without fear of getting involved.
