Today is #TownMeetingDay in #Vermont where we will all go and vote to elect our town leaders… we’ll also vote on school budgets and various things like buying school buses or fire trucks, preserving open land, putting money aside for future risks, etc. (In our town one of the items involves replacing a dump truck with a sander and a plow.)

Town Meeting Day takes many different forms across the state, and this article (and it’s linked articles) explains more:

Your guide to Vermont's Town Meeting Day tradition in 2026

We've updated our Town Meeting Day guide with some new details for this year, plus a new bingo card.

Vermont Public

I will be doing my part as a volunteer election official sitting at our polls for 4 hours checking in people when they come to vote. I was just planning to wear a sweater as the gym in the town office is kind of drafty…. but now that I am looking at the photos in that VT Digger article in my previous post…

… I think I might have to be “on brand” for Vermont and pull out a flannel shirt! 🤣🤣🤣

@danyork Did you make your bingo card yet?

@rickscully HA!! We (Shelburne) actually had our in-person "informational" meeting last night... today it is just the regular voting process, so no bingo cards will be needed. 😃

And... given that all our town officials are running un-opposed... and that there is no real controversy with the school budget (other than the usual concern that it's too much).. I don't know how many people we'll actually see voting today!

@danyork Pics or it didn't happen!
