More weird news:

How about just funding and contributing to @Codeberg / @forgejo ?
*sigh*

@CyReVolt source/reference?
@jn edited - sorry, copy-pasting between text + URL on mobile really sucks. I also had to verify @Codeberg to be the right account, because the domain looks sus and unknown to me. Downsides of decentralized, federal systems... yargh.
@CyReVolt l isn't codeberg located in germany?
Codeberg e. V.

@CyReVolt so they need to comply with german laws? i see why one wouldn't want to use that
@CyReVolt i would certainly not want host a project like yt-dlp on codeberg

@condret That is very likely not the target group of that Swedish startup either.
Any entity must comply with their local law or the law of where they operate, on that note.
There may be very few countries with exceptions.

Plus, anyone may self-host Forgejo. The startup could do that, and, of course, contribute to its development, which is what really gains Europe the self-sovereignty discussed here.

@CyReVolt @Codeberg @forgejo That talks about VC funding and I'm quite confident nobody in Forgejo or Codeberg wants any of that. That's money with poison.
@Gusted Very much agreee.
My point is regarding their selling point being bullocks.
