Atencio is a modern revival of Rubens, a late 1800s style, often used for books, films, and ...theme park attractions. This is the first font of this style to have a variable weight and this level of draw quality.

It’s not finished yet, but it’s also priced as such. As we develop it further, the price will go up from $60, so now’s not a bad time to get it if you want to receive future versions and support its development. The price will never be lower than it is now.

@louie oh my, what a beautiful and distinctive font. This is so fab.
@louie I was just staring at this cover of the Silmarillion the other day thinking what a great font it was, and then I see this on my timeline. This is beautiful Louie and I think exactly what I needed for a project I’m working on.
@manutastic whoa! I’ve definitely seen another silmarillion cover with it but not this one! Thanks for sharing (and buying!)
@manutastic for your enjoyment (??) check out this photo I took, and when and where I took it. I guess that’s as long as this has been embedded in my brain. Glad to finally make it!
@louie Oh wow that’s great! By the way, how did you end up deciding on the name?

@manutastic We considered a *lot* of options. The main factors were a name with enough unique characters that demonstrated the character of the style and distancing just enough from a too-obvious “Haunted Mansion” name that might typecast it in the future.

Atencio is an unfamiliar name for people who aren’t super Disney nerds. Xavier Atencio was the lyricist for Grim Grinning Ghosts and Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me). We chose it because it meets the criteria above!
