Although its claimed that #cats don't #meow to each other, I saw and heard today the #tomcat from across the street (who hangs out with the other cats round here) enter the yard, sit down and give a single meow in the direction of where the other yard cats come from.

It wasn't the typical call tomcats make when calling for females, it sounded more like he was simply letting the other cats know he was around (like humans would send a text or similar message) - I've been watching these cats for years now and it definitely seemed like inter-cat #communication

@vfrmedia they totally meow to each other. I had a neighbor cat who would come to my porch and meow to get my cat to come to the window too. She'd run if she saw me, so it was definitely my cat and not me that she wanted.

@iris this is /exactly/ what the tomcat was doing and he runs away if I approach him, as do the other yard cats.

This is the yard of a business park in Mid Suffolk, England - there's 3 offices on site I do work in, a repair garage next door and some other businesses - next door to that a lady rehomes semi-feral cats which is where most of the yard cats are from, but this tom walks some distance every day to hang out with them..
