This is an informative timeline 🔽 It shows that things are bit more complex.

But above all it shows that both are to blame, not just one as just stated on tv.

History of US-Iran relations: From the 1953 regime change to Trump strikes

Iran remains the US’s adversary in the Middle East since the 1979 Islamic revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Al Jazeera
@thijs it is missing a few details. It only shows the US agression. The Irainian aggression is skimmed over. For example, where is tge details of plane hijackings in the 70s. It is missing Iran-backed militants causing harm on shipping lanes (whose avtions were unprovoked), etc.

@andrew I am aware of those and are indeed missing from the timeline. And I am also aware of the source I linked too.

So yes, the Iranian aggression (direct or via proxies) certainly has been / is there. No doubt about that.

But I just heard Mr. Hegseth stating that the war was not started by the USA, but they will finish it. And I am not convinced (yet) that those words encompass all that has happened.

@thijs In my opinion, something is missing from public knowledge regarding Iran, nuclear, oil, and civil protesting.

@andrew For most people it are things that are far away. In Dutch we would say it is "a far from my bed show".

And only when it affects their daily life, it becomes a thing and everybody becomes an expert. Or when something truely bad happens.

There is so much around this (Iran, USA, Israel, the rest) we could keep on typing all night 🙂
