I am familiar with Komoot but never used it, and I guess I never will.

@rasterweb that’s a pity. When I worked in London, Komoot was the only app that would give me sensible bike routes that didn’t either a) try to kill me by putting me on fast roads, or b) try to get me in trouble by putting me on pavements.

I haven’t used it since I moved but that’s a sad outcome.

@rasterweb
Komoot was nice before the venture capital takeover. I'd say it's main strength was the user provided routes and recommendations.
Not sure what AI could contribute in this.
@rasterweb all say komoot got shitty after the sale. It already got shitty before. The routing was good at a certain time in the past. But now bikerouter.de is far more better. And all these other features in komoot are not needed by 90% of the folks anyhow. But yes, I loved komoot in the past and it was a very good start into guided biking.

@rasterweb

It's possible that chatGPT has improved since the only time I ever asked it for directions.
However I would prefer to ask random strangers than rely on it.

@rasterweb Komoot became irrelevant for me when they got acquired by another company and fired the entire staff.
@rasterweb If your service is just a wrapper around ChatGPT, users will figure out they can bypass it and just ask ChatGPT.
