Everybody with more than 2 brain cells knew he was a liar, an open racist and misogynist, a fraudulent business man who had lost billions and a fucking convicted felon!
The alternative choice was a woman who had a history of serving society and no criminal record.

It comes back to the US media ecosystem and how, due to a 40 year long shift blurring the lines between news and opinion programming in US media, most voters here don't believe accurate news about politics.
I feel like I have a whole essay on this bottled up in my head and at some point I need to sit down and just write it.
But that's if they even pay attention to the news. Most USians don't, and just vote in every election as a referendum on the ruling party, based on their own general vibes on how their life is going. People thought things were shitty in 2020, so they voted for the opposition party. People thought things were still shitty in 2024 so they voted for the opposition party again.
