The #FirstItaloEthiopianWar ended in humiliating defeat for #Italy on #ThisDayInHistory in 1896 when 70% of its force was killed or captured in the #BattleOfAdwa. Other colonial powers permitted Italy to expand there in the #BerlinConference but #Ethiopia stayed free until 1935.

@LiamOMaraIV I've spoken to Ethiopians about this and they're still proud of it also, I like Ethiopian music. I was introduced to it when I was really little by this girl who's parents came from there.
