Fascinating People here…

Since folks can't decide who and what is to be #CW'd, I'll continue to use #hastags the way I do so, you can all either block/mute those and/or search for them, because #FullTextSearch and #CWs don't work consistently and the only issues re: #hashtag useage are IMHO #client-related.

Brand new “don’t ask me to cw my posts, use filters instead” from the people who brought you “don’t ask me not to use weird euphemisms for things. I need those for evading filters”

@kkarhan fwiw, I didn't content warn my Iran conflict posts yesterday, as it was such major news, also as most of the posts were short and putting anything meaningful in the CW field would've been about the same length and content as the post itself. And they all had hashtags with terms that could be muted.

From today I'm content-warning them.

@tokyo_0 personally I think people should do it with their accounts as they like it, following the rules of their instances.

  • Some mandate certain topics to be #CW'd - ranging from #NSFW to #USpol - whilst others are "As long as it won't get the admin swatted, we're cool! Just don't d0x/swat people or upload copyrighted/CSAM content!" - lenient.

    • In the end the #Fediverse does get it's strengh by said diversity of rules and people…

And that's certainly better than #AntisocialMedia that are prudish and just a pain in the ass to deal with…

@kkarhan That's a good point. Reminds me of how many things here on the Fediverse are not as they should be, mind, or as they are promised to be (content portability for example). I think for a lot of people who have come here as part of the Twitter exodus (which includes me, even though I had a dormant account for years before) they know intellectually that it's federated but don't think about that very much when they're using the platform in practice—the federated culture hasn't been absorbed.
