I torpedoed a job applicant who'd been recommended by a supervisor in another department because her résumé claimed she'd graduated "suma cum laude." (It's "summa," not "suma.") Lied to the recommender about why she didn't get the job.
@fesshole pettie shite right there. I hope whomever did this torpidoing got a shite second candidate

@fesshole

With all the autocorrect in word processing software and mobile keyboard software it is hard to keep such mistakes out, as it requires constant checking and correcting again and again.
To not hire someone for that one mistake is extremely petty, but who would want to work for a person like the fesser who is so ridiculously pedantic anyway? The applicant was probably quite lucky.

@fesshole Applicant dodged a bullet. Working with you must be awful.
@fesshole I'd not hire you for putting the comma and period inside the quotation marks...

@FiXato @fesshole US grammatical style per Strunk and White.

And yeah, it makes me twitch, too.

Divided by a common language, indeed.

@fesshole I'd have passed you over for saying "résumé" when you mean CV.
@fesshole Fessor detected a red flag on resume. Sus on supervisor trying to reassign a (good) resource
