MG has covered strayan politics for 5000 years give or take, yet still makes basic errors like

Labour's rank-and-file is more radical than the parliamentary party

& apparently no sub-editor bothered to notice either.

on the general thrust of her article, i just shake my head in despair & ask again, #whythefuckislabor ?

Behind the scenes, the troops are carefully managed. Opinions are expressed at factional meetings and the prime minister meets with the factional conveners.

@msdropbear The thing I've always said about MG is that her specialty subject is Stating The Bleeding Obvious. She never comes up with anything the average (engaged) person in the street couldn't have. Honestly, what is the point of her, or Labor for that matter?
@sister_ratched imo that's a cracker of an observation / remark. in bygone years i avidly read &/or listened to her, but that exposure gradually brought me to the same realisation you just summarised, so nowadays it's rare for me to seek her out. sometimes i only end up in one of her columns by accident (these days i largely don't directly read the actual smh, abc, guardian etc homepage sites but instead use an #RSS feedreader in my browser to fetch articles, & often it's unclear who wrote them (from the RSS summary) til i click the link if i wanna read more, then bam... oh, tis MG, damn. heehee).
@msdropbear Ha! I don't know how she has such an elevated position in the pecking order. And don't even start me on that hair! 🤡
