@universalhub ooo! I wonder if it will last until June again!
@IcooIey That was the one on Tide St. in the marine park, which I think was even bigger! But, yes, the countdown continues.

There was a very snowy year in the '90s when the Globe had a "Guess what day the South Boston snow mound finally melts" competition and the winner got a snowblower.

@stevegis_ssg @IcooIey I think the 2015 pile lasted until July, although towards the end it was hard to tell if that was still the snow pile or just a large pile of dirt.

@stevegis_ssg @IcooIey July 13 to be exact!

Here it is in June, just vibing at sunrise:

Dawn breaks over the South Boston snow pile

Steve awoke early this morning to capture that most magical moment when the sun rises over the snow pile on Tide Street. Copyright Steve. Posted in the Universal Hub pool on Flickr.

@universalhub @stevegis_ssg @IcooIey Oh wow, I had thought it had melted July 4th weekend, but it went even later.

In the midst of all the storms, I think my off the cuff prediction was Memorial Day, but nature delivered so much more than we expected.

The Globe also showed the season accumulated snow total superimposed on Robert Parish. When it exceeded his height, they gave him a snorkel.

@stevegis_ssg @rmd1023 @IcooIey They'd previously used Shelby Scott as their unit of snow measurement, but, yeah, there was that one year of Parish-sized snowfall.

The fediverse could use a \@bostonloonmountain account to go along with @frenchtoast!

I assume this account would exist solely to post this video after every big Boston snowstorm.
