Reading a discussion of people having a crack in a seat tube of a carbon frame.
One couldn't give theirs away, fixed for hundreds of $.
The other is trying to sell for cheap. The frame is from ~2018.

An incredibly strong material, apparently

@Anibyl Carbon is what carbon does :-). If you ride your carbon bicycle a lot, it will have these sorts of "cracking" issues far sooner than a steel frame ridden the same distance. It seems pointless unless you are part of a racing team with a mechanic and you get new bicycles every 5 years or less OR you have lots of $ #Ymmv
@roland @Anibyl I heard someone saying they didn't think a carbon frame was a good idea to ride past the first year....

@LovesTha @roland @Anibyl

oh dear, and here I am riding a Trek 5200 from 1999 with over 40k miles on it. What ever shall I do?

@keraba @LovesTha @roland @Anibyl Truly, there are a lot of old carbon frames still out there being ridden. And there are A LOT that have failed.
@vandenberglegs @keraba @roland @Anibyl it will fail one day, and the fail can be sudden.
