The analyses suggest that he won, not by gaining increased votes, but because so many dem voters couldn't bring themselves to vote for a party barracking for genocide.

@DrALJONES I guess so, but they must know that in a first past the post electoral system, a non-vote is almost the same as voting for him. They helped put Trump in the White House, and it's possible there will be no Palestinian territories by the time he leaves. 🤷‍♀️

It's still important to put yourself in the shoes of others and distinguish between the two things.

Could you, eg, physically bring yourself to vote for an administration that has killed 100 members of your extended family? I couldn't.

@DrALJONES Yes, I agree. The Democrats need to do better. Although, I doubt they will until they can retire many of their leaders.

And USA needs to adopt a preferential voting system 😉

Well, the point is that the leadership was bought by oligarchs decades ago. It might be quicker for the non-bought section to form an alternative party.

@DrALJONES Unfortunately, in a first past the post. voluntary voting system, that would probably result in Republican govts for a generation, as a result of splitting the vote. Mind you, that seems the happening, now, anyway. It's a pickle. 🤔
