Someone edited my post on the Swift forums, to change "SPM" to "SwiftPM". So I asked why.

My "purposeful misspelling" is "an unpleasant experience", and "SwiftPMs marketing materials and documentation consistently use correct spelling".

Purposeful? Wow. This is so rude. Get your paws off my text!

Just ask, next time. Convince people of using SwiftPM, if this is so important to you.

@groue wait we all have to follow “marketing materials” now if coding in Swift?

what an dumb move and stupid reason.

@groue Also, sorry, but everyone refers to it as SPM. It is, de facto, the abbreviation/acronym everyone understands.
@groue wtf, you know who?
@dlx Of course, and I protect their identity because everybody can make mistake.
@groue cool, hope they apologize.
@dlx Not yet, but at least they found a resistance today. They might start to reflect on what it feels to find your own words modified by somebody else without permission. There are other ways to fight this battle (and other battles as well).

@groue @dlx if it’s who I think it is (and I’m pretty sure it’s this person), I don’t believe this person will apologize and change.

I’ve heard other friends and members of the Swift community complain about their behavior and conduct, have personally witnessed it too.

@groue @dlx I literally found this post because a friend who’s been harassed by him shared it with me on iMessage saying that he can’t believe this guy is for real.
@groue gross :( That really is a step too far :(
@groue Solidly agree with you, here. I’ve been writing code to deal with SwiftPM for a few years, now, and nobody calls it anything but SPM. If that’s what they want us to call them, okay, I won’t go deadnaming their tool, but they’ve gotta ask.
@groue WhatTF
@WLBORg I took me one hour to get the joke 😅
@groue so, you have seen the edit, too?
@groue it’s troubling that this is even possible. I can understand some level of moderation, but editing someone’s post arbitrarily is a reckless abuse of power
@groue I don’t wanna be too dramatic and call this an abuse of power, but it’s certainly no way to run a community. 😕
@groue Also, the offender should learn some vocabulary. "Purposeful" != "deliberate".

@groue I remember there was some discussion about this here a while ago, about how Apple people prefer that people call it SwiftPM, while everyone says SPM

But actually editing people’s forum posts… wow. That’s next level and rude
